    Living Room: Casual sofas, loveseats, chairs, and sofabeds – less than 20 years old (no rips, tears, visible stains, or smells) (Must be pre-approved to drop-off) Small TV stands Coffee & End Tables Desks and Bookshelves TVs – flat screen, digital ready, < 52” inches (working items only) Area rugs: 6ft.x 9ft. or smaller, rolled, tied and marked with size) Lamps, Vacuums, Clocks, Fans, space heaters etc. (All appliances must be in good working condition) Wall décor and Decorative pillows Kitchen & Dining: Dining tables & chairs Dinette Sets Microwaves, toaster ovens, coffee pots, etc. Dishes, glasses, pots and pans, flatware, kitchen utensils – no crystal stemware please (microwavable & dishwasher safe) Kitchen linens: Placemats, tablecloths, dish towels etc. Bed & Bath: Mattresses & box springs (twin, double, or queen) – (no rips, tears, visible stains, or smells) (Must be pre-approved before dropping off) Bed Frames: Twin, double, or queen (must be disassembled with all hardware bagged and taped to frame) Toddler beds and crib mattresses Mirrors Clean linens and bedding: Sheets, bed blankets, comforters, etc. (Laundered, bagged, and labeled with size) Mattress pads (laundered, bagged, and labeled with size) & NEW bed pillows Shower curtains, curtain hangers, bath rugs, laundry baskets and other bathroom accessories Towels, wash clothes, etc. Cleaning Supplies for "Welcome Home" housewarming baskets: Laundry detergent Disinfectant Spray/Wipes Paper towels Dishwasher detergent Multipurpose cleaner Trash bags Mops and Swiffer's Soft scrub Dish soap Brooms and dust pans Bleach Hand soap Sponges Toilet paper Textile Recycling: Clothing Shoes/Sneakers Belts Purses Blankets, sheets, drapes, and pillowcases that are in poor to fair condition and unable to be used by Fresh Start clients Stuffed animals
  • Are there any items you don't accept?
    Box TV’s, large entertainment centers or wall units Hutches, China cabinets, buffets and large consoles Rocking chairs or benches Furniture made from particle board, missing parts or in need of repair Sofas more than 20 years old, Sectionals, or This End Up brand King-sized bedding/bed frames, Ikea beds, waterbeds, or hospital beds Armoires or wardrobe cabinets Curio cabinets, glass display units, Cribs or other baby care items Wicker/patio furniture Exercise equipment or luggage Computer items or sewing machines Food or hygiene products Books, toys, games, etc. Large appliances Housewares requiring installation (faucets, lighting fixtures etc.)
  • Do you accept large appliances?
    No, we do not. Please visit www.harfordhelps.com to find a non-profit who accepts large appliance donations.
  • Do you accept food or clothing?

  • Do you pick up?
    Yes. We offer several options for your pickup convenience. Please visit www.freshstartmd.org/donate/pick-up
  • Do you disassemble furniture?
    No we do not. If you are requesting a standard pickup with our Fresh Start volunteers, please disassemble items as necessary and include the parts (screws, washers, etc.) in a clearly-labeled baggie. Instructions for assembly are not necessary, but certainly appreciated. If you need assistance with disassembly, we encourage you to arrange pickup through our partners at ReSupply.   • Can I stop by the showroom with my donation?

  • How long do I have to wait for my donation pick-up?
    The average wait time for a free standard donation pick-up by Fresh Start volunteers is 3-6 weeks. The average wait time for a priority pick-up through ReSupply is 48 hours. To learn more about our pick-up options visit www.freshstartmd.org/donate/pick-up
  • What area do you serve?
    Fresh Start Furnishings serves those in need in Harford County. Upon referral, we collaborate with individuals, churches, and organizations outside of Harford County.
  • What items are available though the Fresh Start Furniture Program?
    All items are available based on our inventory. We CANNOT GAUARNTEE we will have all items requested at the time of your appointment.   • Do you re-assemble furniture?
    No we do not, but we do try our best to make sure all the pieces are available and stay together. If you receive disassembled furniture and believe there may be missing pieces, please call Evelyn McSorley at 443-519-2464.
  • Can I stop by the showroom to get furniture?
    NO. Anyone in need of services must first apply to the Fresh Start Furniture Program. Our application can be found at www.freshstartmd.org/furniture
  • Can I get additional furniture if I see something I like?
    No. We do our best to ensure we have the requested items available for every client we schedule. The inventory you see during your visit may already by reserved for another client scheduled to come in. If you do see other items you are in need of during your visit, please notify the showroom attendant that you would like to schedule a new appointment in the future.
  • Do you hold items in reserve if I'm not ready to receive furniture yet?
    No. We are unable to hold furniture or home goods items.
  • My friend needs help. Can I pick up something extra while I'm there?
    No. If you know someone else in need of assistance they will need to fill out an application. Applications can be found at www.freshstartmd.org/furniture
  • I don't NEED furniture, but I'm looking to replace some I have. Is that possible?
    If the furniture you currently have is damaged and not suitable for use as it was intended, you may apply to the Fresh Start Furniture Program for assistance.
  • You don't have the item I need. Is there a waiting list?
    Yes. We are happy to add you to our item wait list if we do not have the item(s) you need at the time of your appointment. Please tell the showroom attendant that you would like to be added to our waitlist for the item requested.
  • How long do I have to wait for furniture delivery?
    The average wait time for delivery is 4-6 weeks and is based on volunteer and inventory availability.
  • How do I qualify to receive free furniture?
    The Fresh Start Furniture Program is an income-based program. To see if you qualify you must fill out an application. Applications can be found at www.freshstartmd.org/furniture
